What we collect, in plain words
Short version: one page on this site asks for your email address, and only if you want a free download. Nothing else here collects anything about you, and there is no advertising and no cross-site tracking anywhere on the site.

The one form on this site
On the free reading ladder page you can ask us to send you the download. That form collects three things:
- Your email address — so we can send the file and, later, an occasional note when we make something new.
- Your first name, if you give one — only so an email can start with your name instead of “Hi there”. You can leave it blank.
- The grade band you pick — so we can stop sending you kindergarten material if you teach second grade.
That is the whole list. We do not ask for your school, your district, your phone number or anything about your students, and there is nowhere on this site to enter any of it.
Who handles the emails
We send email through Klaviyo, a US email platform, so your address and the two details above are stored on their systems as well as being visible to us. We do not sell, rent, trade or share your address with anyone else, and we do not upload it to advertising platforms.
Leaving
Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately — you never have to reply and ask. If you would rather be deleted outright instead of unsubscribed, reply to any email from us and say so, and we will remove the record entirely.
You do not have to give an email address to use the ladder itself. The method is written out in full on the page, free, and you are welcome to copy the rungs onto a sticky note and skip us completely.
How we count visits
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages people read. Exactly what that does and does not mean:
- It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- It does not follow you to other websites and does not build a profile of you.
- What we see is aggregate: page addresses, referring sites, browser type, broad country — not people.
Some links here pass through a short redirect page of ours before reaching Teachers Pay Teachers. That is how we count how many people clicked, since the analytics can only see our own pages. The redirect sets nothing and knows nothing about you.
Buying a set
Every set we make is sold through Teachers Pay Teachers, not through this site. When you buy, you are buying from TPT: they take the payment, they hold the account, and their privacy policy governs that transaction. We never see your card details. What we see is what any seller sees on their dashboard — that a sale happened, and any review or question you choose to post publicly.
Children
Our materials are made for children, but this website is written for the adults who teach them. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and there is nowhere on this site where a child could enter anything about themselves.
What we never do
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
- We do not run advertising or advertising pixels on this site.
- We do not embed third-party trackers, social widgets or comment systems.
Changes
If we start collecting anything beyond the three things listed above, we will say so on this page, in the same plain language, and change the date at the top — before the change goes live, not after. That is how this page came to be rewritten: the form did not exist when it was first published, and this version went up before the form did.
